Checking prices

Prices are checked when you ask, for the tracks you choose. There’s no button for a whole playlist.

  1. In Track Workspace, tick the tracks you’re ready to buy.
  2. They gather in the Price check box at the top of the side column. Choose Check prices.
  3. Each track is checked in turn and slides out of the list when it’s done, and the plan updates as you go. Stop after this track stops early.
  4. The tracks just checked stay highlighted until you leave Track Workspace. Show them first brings them to the top of their sections, and Done clears the highlight. The Checked column says when each track’s prices were last checked.

A track’s own page has Check prices too.

Store What it gives Notes
Bandcamp Downloads, including free and name-your-price ones Found through MusicBrainz’s release links: Bandcamp doesn’t allow searching.
Volumo Downloads Needs your own Volumo API token: create one at volumo.com/profile/api-tokens and add it in Settings.
iTunes 256 kbps AAC Used when no WAV, AIFF, FLAC or MP3 320 download is on offer, and only if Include MP3 256 or AAC 256 is on in Version rules.
Discogs Second-hand CDs Only for tracks no store sells as a DJ-quality download. Prices exclude postage.

Own the Set isn’t affiliated with these stores. It follows each store’s robots.txt, limits how often it asks, and names itself. It never gets past a bot check. More stores are on the way.

Store prices are kept for 24 hours. Discogs prices are kept for 6 hours, as Discogs’ terms require: when a playlist opens with expired ones, a banner offers to refresh them, or Settings can refresh them automatically.

A track no store has answered for yet says Not checked, not “not found”. Check its price to find out.
